Congratulations to Peggy Vespestad!

AAQG MEETING – MAY 10, 2011

Posted in Business on May 13th, 2011

President Louise called the meeting to order and asked cell phones be turned off.  The Mary Conkel award was presented to Peggy Vespestad.  Peggy shared a couple of memories of her long time in the quilt guild.  She personally knew Mary Conkel so the award has special meaning to her.

Quilt Show Co-Chair Janeen advised that Quilter’s Cupboard has donated a sewing machine to the guild that will be used as the prize for the most raffle tickets sold.  Janeen said ticket sales have been brisk.  Registrations for entries to the quilt show
are due by June 1st.

Retreat Chair Elect Connie shared that the next guild retreat will be April 19th – 22nd, 2012.  It will be held at Twin Lakes Christian Center, Manson, Iowa.  It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to get there.  She is very excited to have our guild try out this new center.  Connie has gone to retreats there for the past 6 years.  Each person will have their own eight foot table.  There is good lighting and the electrical has never been a problem.  Get out your calendars and pencil it in!

Louise reminds us that next month the guild meeting will be held on the 3rd Tuesday, June 21st.  Mark your calendars so you don’t miss our speaker, Tula Pink, quilt fabric
designer.

Tonight was the quilt challenge, “Color in the Lines”. We had 19 completed projects to choose from.  The entries were amazing!  We have so much talent in our guild.  First place went to Pam Messer; Second place is Gloria House and Third was Cecilie Vogt. Director at Large Elect Sharon McCarthy shared that 43 people signed up for the challenge.  If your project is still at home by your sewing machine, complete it and it can still be displayed with the rest at the Quilt show in July.  Deb Pierschbacher won the door prize and Joan Maust “won” the fat quarter drawing.  Joan was the only entry in the fat quarter drawing this month.  We all have those fat quarters at home; we just need to get them to the meeting to make it more fun.

Show and tell and treats finished the meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathy Evers
