AAQG 10.10.17 Guild Meeting

AAQG Meeting 10.10.17

Linda brought the meeting to order and announced the open positions on the board.

We had around 11 guests and I didn’t get the number of members. This was a night for paying dues and will continue collecting dues in November.

Speaker Jan Sassaman was the program; she showed us slides of her fabric designs and went thru the process of how she creates her fabric. A lot of inspiration comes from her garden that her husband maintains- and what a garden it is.  Just like us quilters we can’t get enough fabric- he feels the same way about plants!  Her take on the dandelion was one I hadn’t heard before and she puts that in a lot of her fabric.

The Raffle quilt was shown – it is complete except it is in need of a label. It will be at the Santa North Pole Village on November 4th.  Raffle tickets will be available for purchase.

“Paint a Barn Quilt Block” deadline is tonight- if you didn’t sign up you missed it.

Carol our faithful communication chair would like to have photos of everyone to add to the directory and she is willing to take your photo. If you have a story for her “Every Quilt has a Story” feature on Facebook get that over to her.

Sign up for the Fons and Porter magazine subscription is at that sign in table- this is quite the deal and $5 goes back into the guild fund.

The “Spool Thread Challenge” is due in November. Create a name tag with the spool logo on it and there will be a views choice next month with a prize going to the one with the most votes.

The KISS (Keep It Super Simple) project to learn a new technique was shown and instructions were given out. Jean showed 2 sizes of the block.  This month’s was a pinwheel inside a churn dash block- looked pretty neat!

Door prizes were awarded- remember you must have a name tag on it your name is called to get one of the fine gifts.

Show and tell and then refreshments concluded the evening.

Piecefully submitted,
