Donation Quilts

The guild takes great pride in providing donations each year to our community.  Our Vice President is in charge of selecting what charities he/she would like our guild to donate to.

We have a goal as a guild to create a minimum of 100 donation quilts a year.  The main charity for our guild is Children and Family of Iowa.  However, we have given donations to Youth Homes in Johnston, Bridges Rehab Center,  Safe Haven, Women’s Violence Center, Elevate, Endure Iowa, and Sunny View Care Center.

We have also been known to be very generous with donations that are not quilts. Such examples would be cancer hats, pillowcases for the children’s ward at the hospitals, diapers for Africa, winter attire for children in need, place mats for Meals on Wheels, and so many others.  There are so many needs in our community; and we like to contribute any way our talents will allow us!!!

Dee Baker, housemother, holds 10 quilts donated to Safe Haven by our guild.  Safe Haven is a new transitional home for young women served by Freedom for Youth Ministries.  Safe Haven is located in Des Moines and its goal is tho help young women, ages 18-22,  who are homeless or at risk.  These young women finish high school, get counseling and encouragement, and learn skills to support themselves while at Safe Haven.

2010 Children & Families Donations

On Friday, July 23rd, we delivered 90 quilts & 42 Activity Bags to Children & Families of Iowa. Our donations will also go to the Women’s Violence Center and Elevate (a program for youth who age out of the foster care system) through Children & Families of Iowa. A big THANK YOU to all who so generously donated to this project!!
